On Tuesday 2nd May 2023, before the first day of the May Racing Carnival at Warrnambool, Betfair and I hosted a Mounting Yard education session.  

We had around 30 guests at Jane Baker’s on track racing stables, where we looked at several of her horses (plus the stable goat) and learnt about all things Mounting Yard!

The key to this being such a brilliant session was the ability to have actual horses on hand, helping identify where exactly to look and physical examples of what’s good or not. It was so much easier to point where exactly on a horse, rather than explaining via technical terms (such as flank), making it easier to learn and understand!

The session was completely interactive, and our yard enthusiasts asked questions, hung around for brekkie, coffee and a chat, before we walked across the road to The ‘Bool.
